01

LED describes the backlight family

Most LCD televisions use LED backlighting. Standard LED TVs can offer excellent value for everyday streaming, broadcast television and bedroom use, with performance varying significantly by panel and processing quality.

02

QLED adds quantum-dot colour

QLED televisions use a quantum-dot layer with an LED backlight to improve colour volume and brightness. QLED does not automatically define the number of dimming zones or guarantee black-level performance.

03

Mini LED improves backlight control

Mini LED televisions use much smaller backlight elements, allowing more local-dimming zones in compatible designs. This can improve highlights and dark-scene control, although processing and zone count still affect results.

04

4K is resolution, not panel technology

A TV can be 4K LED, 4K QLED or 4K Mini LED. Compare resolution separately from HDR format support, refresh rate, gaming features, operating system and audio.

05

Choose for the content you watch

Standard LED can be a strong budget choice. QLED suits bright rooms and colour-focused viewing. Mini LED can benefit premium movies, HDR and gaming where finer contrast control matters. Compare actual model specifications rather than the label alone.

Does every QLED TV support 120Hz gaming?

No. Refresh rate and HDMI gaming features must be checked on the exact model.
